Since the system showed no signs of slowing down, the upper limit on users remains undetermined for this design methodology. The secret lies in designing the application for LAN operations. This leads to surprising design criteria which will be discussed. Jim Rand will describe his three-tier design that allows Access to front end SyBase or SQL Server 7 and for smaller applications MSDE that ships with Access 2000. There are striking parallels with the new updateable snapshot capability that Access 2000 is introducing. Jim feels very comfortable with the design, and expects as many as 300 users to be a reasonable and economical expectation. Please come early for networking, and bring along both your accomplishments and perplexities.
