Date: Fri, 12 Mar 1999 23:03:38 -0500 From: Steven Allen Subject: Boston Windows User Group March 22 Meeting Monday, March 22, 1999 ---------------------- A Preview of Office 2000 ======================== Boston Windows User Group ------------------------- 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Speaker at 8:00 --------------------- Office 2000 is an exciting new office suite that offers Web- enabled collaboration, rich data analysis tools, and significant improvements in ease-of-use and manageability. Jennifer Pope, a nine-year MSFT veteran, represents their Partner and Consumer Ed Group in the NE region. Jen shows us how these improvements help streamline the way you work with people and with information, thus making you more productive. Office 2000 is scheduled for release this spring. We probably have enough Office 2000 Consumer Preview kits (beta) on hand for each interested attendee. The expiration date for most components is August 1, 1999. PhotoDraw 2000, which has been released, is the exception (expiration 3/30/99). It will be reviewed in depth on 3/16/99 at the FrontPage User Group meeting - see http://www.webss.com/frontpageboston. The Office User Group (http://www.webss.com/msoffice) will join us (BWUG) on 3/22/99. Location: Microsoft's Multipurpose Room, 6th floor, 230 Third Ave, Waltham, MA, which has Parking and has Wheelchair access. Bad Weather: Look at http://www.bwug.org for a change in the "traffic light" associated with the meeting - it's green for go, yellow for caution and red for cancel. Alternately call Microsoft NE's Events phone 800-448-9560, which will carry a cancellation announcement. Directions: Take Route 95/128 to Exit 27A. Go south on Third Ave passing between the northbound 95/128 and the Westin Hotel. Reaching Third Ave requires a U-turn to the right from the northbound 95/128 exit or a "cross the overpass and turn right" from the southbound 95/128 exit. From Third Ave, turn left onto Fourth Ave immediately after the Westin. Go to end, turn right and follow signs for Prospect Place. Bear right at the fork and follow signs to Visitor Parking. Lobby is on second floor. Also see map on http://www.bwug.org/events. ***************************************************************** ****** Meet us at Bertucci's Restaurant at 5:30. ****** ****** It's in the small strip mall diagonally across ****** ****** the 95/128 intersection with Winter St ****** ****** from the meeting location. The suite includes Outlook Express 5, Windows Media Player 6, Chat 2.5, NetMeeting 2.11. See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie5/list.asp. IE 5 does not install an Active Desktop on Win95. Howard Chen, a local MSFT Technology Specialist, shows us the suite in action. IE5 release is scheduled for 3/18/99. May 1999 -------- We do not meet in May (or December).
