Date: Thu, 3 Jun 1999 07:52:01 -0400 (EDT) From: Mary Hopkins Subject: MEETING 6/8, 7:30 p.m. The next meeting of Boston Voice Users will be Tuesday, June 8, 7:30 p.m., MIT 2-135. Directions below. Our speaker will be Eric Johansson. Topic: Programming by voice: is it real yet? People have been asking and talking about programming by speech for years. Eric S. Johansson is working with Alain Desilets in Canada on solving this very problem. There'll be a short slide presentation on the current state of programming by voice and a demonstration of voice grip3, the latest version of Alain Desilets tool assisting speech driven coding. As a potential added bonus: if the shipping gods comply, Eric may have a USB microphone to show off. A status of whether or not the microphone will be present at the meeting will be announced on the Boston-voice-users mailing list at the earliest possible moment. [ESJ] Directions to room: Go in the main door of MIT, at 77 Mass. Ave. Go straight down the Infinite Corridor for as long as you can. When forced to turn, go right. You'll pass one intersection decorated with murals of jungle animals, hallway to library on your left, stairs on your right. 2-135 is a couple of doors further along on the left. For wheelchair access: use the door at 33 Mass Ave, toward the River from the main door. There's a lift here. Please feel free to cross-post this message.
