MEETING DAY & DATE: Wednesday, January 13, 1999 TIME: 6:15 PM HEADLINE: The Software End Game - Accurate Prediction of Time of Product Completion SPEAKER: Jeff Singer, Consultant MORE INFO: John Pustaver, 978-443-4254, pustaver@swquality.com LOCATION: Waterfield Technology Group, 430 Bedford Street, Lexington DESCRIPTION: Commercial software development firms generally must make decisions to ship products while defects are still being discovered and while they are still present in the product. This product ship decision can be made more confidently by using a defect prediction model based on the rate at which defects are discovered during the early stages of a project. In this presentation, the derivation of such a model is presented along with a case study of an actual project where it was used to estimate the total elapsed time for the test phase of the project. Jeff Singer is President of Software Strategies, a consulting company specializing in serving firms developing commercial software products. Prior to entering the consulting business he served as the manager of a wide range of commercial product development efforts. He can be reached at: jsinger@swstrat.com.
