The meeting is free, and open to all users of PDA technology. Our resident team of PDA experts can answer almost any question about the care and feeding of nearly any handheld platform, including Pilot, WinCE and Newton. April's meeting features a demonstration of unique computer display eyeglass technology by Mark Spitzer, CEO of MicroOptical Corporation of Westwood MA. Up until now, to have a wearable computer display, you had to don a Borg-like device that partially obscured the vision of one eye. While this actually works quite well technically, and is of course preferrable to strapping a 17" monitor to the side of your head with duct tape, it is still somewhat unwieldy, and has the potential to be polarizing in social situations. MicroOptical intends to change all that with the development of a pair of normal looking eyeglasses that contain a concealed electronic computer display. When the display is turned on, the wearer sees an image of a computer monitor or video screen in their field of vision. Those around you see a standard pair of eyeglasses. As computers with the power of today's hottest iron become smaller, lighter, and pocketable, technology of this type will be an enabling factor in how future generations of PDAs get used and integrated into our daily lives. So, join us on April 13th at 7pm as we get a glimpse of some very cool technology that may one day soon be commonplace. For more information on MicroOptical Corp., see their website at http://www.microopticalcorp.com The Boston PDA User's Group is an organization made up of those who choose to walk freely among us with handheld and palmtop computers. Formed in 1993, its goal is to connect with the newest and coolest handheld computer technology. BOSPDAUG meets on the second Tuesday evening of each month at MIT in Cambridge MA in MIT room 3-133 at 7pm, and welcomes users of all PDA platforms for lively discussions of handheld and PDA technologies.
