Date: Thu, 27 Aug 1998 18:28:45 -0400 From: Dan Jacobs Subject: September WebTech meeting - Tuesday 9/15 I hope everybody had a great summer, because we're starting right up again with the first of a series of special talks on tools and technologies! We will also hold elections for group officers at this meeting. We could sure use some help in making this group work better for everybody, so feel free to arrange to be nominated! The next meeting will feature a presentation by Mitch Gart and Jeff Rees (two of our members!) on the JWatch debugger. JWatch is a Java debugger, written in Java, with the ability to debug distributed Java programs. It's really cool, both as a good example of a complex Java application and as a good debugger. Once again, I invite everybody that wishes to gather for a fun dinner at the Green Papaya restaurant before the meeting. I'll send out another reminder in about a week. I hope to see you there. ------------------------------------------------------------- Description Mitch Gart and Jeff Rees - Averstar Inc http://www.averstar.com The JWatch Java debugger http://www.jwatch.com Tuesday September 15, 1998, 7:00 pm IBM Solution Partnership Center, Waltham Abstract: JWatch is a debugging technology for distributed, multi-process Java programs. JWatch can be used to debug multiple Java processes at the same time in one debugger session, using various distribution technologies such as RMI and servlets, and using the Sun and Microsoft JVMs. We are now designing the future version of JWatch to allow debugging and monitoring of events in distributed, component-based applications using CORBA and COM/DCOM. We will talk about how our debugging technology works today and about our plans for the future. ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Dan Jacobs, President Tech Tonic Netsystems email: djacobs@ma.ultranet.com Burlington, MA voice: (781) 273-5825, (781) 273-0231 Java Consulting Object-Oriented Software Engineering Chairman Boston ACM WebTech Group: http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech
