This presentation includes an overview of Access (tables, queries, and forms), what's new in the 97 version, and exposure to Access as a development tool. He will answer your most frequently asked questions such as: Why do I need Access? What's the advantage of Access over other databases? And most importantly^Å. How do I get started? There will be a break approximately mid-morning and Questions & Answers will follow the presentation. ************************************ Intermediate Session: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM ************************************ "Using Hidden Controls to Do the Work!" Presented By: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates stone-crowne@msn.com Stop thinking of your application in terms of objects you can see! John will show you examples of the functionality (and necessity) of invisible controls on forms and reports. He will also continue to ease the "faint of heart" into the module window by using sample code to manipulate control values and properties. ************************************ USER GROUP - Pre-Game Show 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM Bring your Access problems and questions! John will take a look at using properties and methods to make forms more robust and re-usable. Watch in amazement as he creates properties that are not limited to the usual data types (strings, ints, etc.)! 8:00 - 9:00 PM "Unique Functions that'll Make Your 'Programming' Life Easier" Presented by Chris Baker of Special Agent, Inc. cbaker@specialagent.com Chris will be presenting some of the techniques he finds extremely useful and powerful for message boxes, SQL and combo boxes. For example: Use the ParamArray construct to create strings for message boxes or SQL. Use a multi-column combo box and union query to create a powerful improvement on a "regular combo box" (typing in the text portion of the combo box automatically matches to any column of the combo box).
