Meeting - Intersense Motion Tracking THE BOSTON VIRTUAL REALITY GROUP PRESENTS INTERSENSE INERTIAL AND HYBRID MOTION-TRACKING SYSTEMS WITH ERIC FOXLIN CHEIF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER INTERSENSE, INC. 7:00 PM THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1998 INTERSENSE, INC. 73 SECOND AVE BURLINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS ________________________________________________________________ Join the Boston Virtual Reality Group and Eric Foxlin of Intersense, Inc for a presentation and demonstration of Intersense motion tracking technology. InterSense was founded in June of 1996 by Eric Foxlin based on his dissertation research at MIT. The company now has sales to major corporations in thirteen countries as well as to some of the worlds top research facilities. InterSense is now the leading commercial supplier of inertial and hybrid motion-tracking systems to facilitate the interaction between people and computers. >From head-mounted displays (HMDs) for simulation and training, to film and broadcast special effects, to tracking personnel movement in large facilities, InterSense supplies tracking solutions that make all kinds of applications smooth and jitter-free. With breakthrough inertial and hybrid motion tracking systems that update at up to 500 Hz, lag time is virtually eliminated. Incorporating inherent predictive capability, and unlimited scalable tracking range, InterSense's proprietary sensor-fusion based tracking systems are making magnetic, optical and acoustic trackers obsolete. Many of InterSense's current applications are utilized on HMDs. Variants of the InterSense technology can be used to track the position and orientation of any object's movement in space; e.g., cameras for the television and movie industries, robots, etc. In addition, the Company's proprietary ultrasonic ranging technology is being applied to personnel tracking in buildings. We request that, if you think you'll be going, you send e-mail to brenden@media.mit.edu so we can get a rough idea of head count before hand. See you there! Whether you have an interest in the discussions, 3-D modelling, interactively generating and/or coding virtual worlds, or somewhere in between, there lots to do and talk about!!! Boston VR Group Philosophy: The purpose of the Boston Virtual Reality Group is to provide an ongoing venue for developing virtual environments as well as a forum for bringing scientists and developers together with VR enthusiasts/potential users. Through actively exploring both the technology and its cultural implications, exposing each to the other's thoughts and ideas, and "learning from" and "sharing with" industry leaders, we can help shape the future of this medium. ====================================================================== FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT: ------------------------------ Director BCS-VRG: Brenden C.Maher Speaker Requests: brenden@media.mit.edu voice: (617) 308-0599 HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO AND UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS LIST: --------------------------------------------------- To subscribe to the boston-vr-announce e-mail announcement distribution list, send the following line in the body of your message to majordomo@world.std.com: subscribe boston-vr-announce To unsubscribe yourself from this list send the following line: unsubscribe boston-vr-announce Sometimes e-mail addresses (especially domain names) get modified by mail servers.
