MEETING DAY & DATE: Wednesday, Dec 9, 1998 TIME: 6:15 PM HEADLINE: Managing Test Cases for Useful Metrics SPEAKER: Derek Kozikowski, CSQE, Sr Software Quality Engineer, Marcam Solutions MORE INFO: John Pustaver, 978-443-4254, pustaver@swquality.com LOCATION: Waterfield Technology Group, 430 Bedford Street, Lexington DESCRIPTION: Much of the software quality literature provides lots of useful information on how to track defect metrics to glean some insight into the quality of your software product. There can also be a wealth of information in the results of the tests themselves. However, given short schedules, a small number of resources, and possibly not very well documented test cases, how can you get this sort of information? This paper discusses the key elements of a test case, and the types of product and process metrics you can collect by managing these elements. Derek Kozikowski is an ASQ CSQE currently working as a Senior Software Quality Engineer with Marcam Solutions in Newton. His eight years working in software quality includes experience with network application systems at Digital Equipment Corporation, security access control systems at Software House, image processing systems at Eastman Kodak Company, and Enterprise Resource Planning systems with Marcam. NEXT MEETING NOTE: The next meeting will be held on Jan. 13, 1999, the 2nd Wednesday.
