Date: Oct 10/27/15 6:40 PM Subject: BNUG meeting This Tuesday November 3rd 6:30pm - Wellesley - Coolhunting, Coolfarming, and Swarmcreativity From: Steve Isenberg Gentlepeople, We are delighted to present a thought-provoking talk by MIT research scientist Peter Gloor at our November meeting, this coming Tuesday night November 3rd. Coolhunting and Coolfarming through Swarmcreativity Every disruptive innovation is not the result of a lone inventor, but of a small group of likeminded individuals, working together in close collaboration to get their cool idea off the ground. They are leveraging the concept of swarm creativity, where this small team - the Collaborative Innovation Network (COIN) - empowered by the collaborative technologies of the Internet and social media, turns their creative labor of love into a product that changes the way how we think, work, or spend our day. The presentation introduces the concept of coolhunting, finding new trends by finding the trendsetters, and coolfarming, helping the trendsetters getting their idea over the tipping point. It describes dozens of case studies done with companies around the world, analyzing the new idea creation process through tracking human interaction patterns on three levels. This Tuesday November 3rd, your Boston Network Users Group, BNUG, will meet at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley Hills. As usual, admission is FREE and open to all. Munchies and Intermingling (M&I) starts at 6:30pm, the meeting will start by 7pm and must end by 8:30pm. About the speaker: Peter A. Gloor is a Research Scientist at the Center for Collective Intelligence at MIT's Sloan School of Management where he leads a project exploring Collaborative Innovation Networks (COIN). He is also Founder and Chief Creative Officer of software company galaxyadvisors where he puts his academic insights to practical use, helping clients to coolhunt by analyzing social networking patterns on the Internet – spot the next big thing by finding the trendsetters, and to coolfarm – make the cool trends succeed on online social networking sites. He blogs about Swarm Creativity at swarmcreativity.blogspot.com. Contact him at pgloor@mit.edu . IMPORTANT: You need to have a (free) parking permit and directions. These are located online (print yours) at http://www.bnug.org/parkingpermit -- you can park right next to the building (flagpole area) if you want and display this permit.
