On Tuesday September 9th, your Boston Network Users Group, BNUG, will meet in the Microsoft store in the Burlington Mall starting at 6:30pm.
Adam Frost of Computer Care and Learning (http://computerCareandLearning.com) will speak on Down-to-Earth Security.
As usual, admission is FREE and open to all.

In this workshop, Adam will outline Computer Care and Learning’s system for keeping PC and Mac computers safe,
while keeping costs and hassles down and keeping flexibility high.  The system includes a suite of free or low-cost security software,
a good multi-layered backup routine, and a gentle approach to the user’s education.

Some of the tools and topics he will cover include: Encrypted, tested, rotated offsite backups; Web of Trust; Adblock plus; Opendns; Malwarebytes;
Cleverest phishing attack – ezpass; Breaking into a Mac; Breaking into a PC; Router setup precautions why netgear is better;
Watch out for hidden storage—recent calls; printer/fax contact list; Re-setting browser as a security measure; AVG, AVAST!,
MS Security Essentials and competitors; KeePass; Truecrypt; Winzip; and Using remote access as a security tool   Logmein,

About our presenter

Adam Frost is a long-time BNUG member and started his professional life as a typewriter repairman.
He moved into computers when the typewriter business disappeared.  His company, Computer Care and Learning,
is a team of people dedicated to helping customers learn to take good care of their computers and to make creative,
productive use of them.

Munchies and Intermingling (M&I) starts at 6:30pm, the meeting will start at 7pm and must end by 8:30pm.
