Date: Sep 09/30/14 5:09 PM Subject: [BNUG-News] BNUG Meeting: "Safe at Home and at the Office" Tuesday October 7th -- Microsoft Store, Burlington -- FREE From: Steve Isenberg Gentlepeople, Next Tuesday! Your Boston Network Users Group, BNUG, will meet in the Microsoft store in the Burlington Mall starting at 6:30pm on Tuesday, October 7th. Adam Frost of Computer Care and Learning (http://computerCareandLearning.com) will speak on Safe at Home and at the Office. As usual, admission is FREE and open to all. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO COME. Space is limited and we need to make sure we have space for everyone. It's fine if you come without telling me ahead of time BUT please wait to be seated and get food until everyone else is seated and served. Thank you. ==> Last month, Adam discussed the practices that both home users and office users need-- strong backups, password management, malware blocking software. This month, we’ll review those practices, and then expand the discussion by introducing practices which organizations must implement, including HIPAA, 201 CMR 17, and PCI. We’ll put a special focus on embezzlement protection. If we have time, we’ll also explore the extraordinary advantages of remote access, both to security and to access for people with disabilities. We strongly recommend that people who came last month, come to this workshop to reinforce your learning and to share problems you had in implementing the safety practices we discussed. About our presenter Adam Frost is a long-time BNUG member and started his professional life as a typewriter repairman. He moved into computers when the typewriter business disappeared. His company, Computer Care and Learning, is a team of people dedicated to helping customers learn to take good care of their computers and to make creative, productive use of them. Munchies and Intermingling (M&I) starts at 6:30pm, the meeting will start at 7pm and must end by 8:30pm. PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you are planning on coming, or even if you think you might be there, so we can make sure we have enough seating and enough food of course. Regards, -steve Steve Isenberg President, BNUG PS: Meeting will be at the Burlington Mall location of the Microsoft Store.
