Hello,

We were able to organize a last minute event this evening in Boston with Richard Stallman, President of the Free Software Foundation and founder of the Free Software movement. We'd appreciate your quick attention to this email and posting it on your calendar and emailing it to the appropriate distribution lists.

We organized an event with Dr. Richard Stallman, President of the Free Software Foundation and founder of the Free Software movement, http://www.fsf.org/about/leadership/, tonight, January 19, 2012 at 6:30 pm at The Colonnade Hotel on 120 Huntington Avenue.

We'd love to invite anyone affiliated with your community, though we do ask that they RSVP so we ensure we have an appropriate sized room. The event is free in all meanings of the word. While the talk will touch on technical topics, the message of Internet Freedom, Software Freedom and the discussion about SOPA and PIPA affects all Internet users and legal scholars so please feel free to invite anyone you think is appropriate.

Here is the brief abstract:

"The Cloud" is now advertising commonplace, but how does it affect you? Some hail it as the technological miracle to solve all your IT problems. Others decry it as the end of security and freedom. Many are just confused. Together, we'll cut through this confusion and separate the technical wheat from the marketing chaff, and learn how to use new technologies to your best advantage and avoid falling into the pitfall of "techno-feudalism".

Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software movement, discusses how we can ensure freedom in the network services we use, and the dangers of relying on proprietary promises. Stallman will talk about how phrases like "the cloud" can be meaningless and counter-productive, and how we need to be aware of the implications on our liberty that certain technical choices can have.

We'll also discuss why the pending SOPA and PIPA legislation will destroy the stability and freedom of the Internet, why this is bad for your personal computing but also bad for your business and what action you can take to defeat these proposed laws.

And the full details and registration link can be found here: http://www.positive-internet.net/events/richard-stallman-no-freedom-in-the-cloud

We'd appreciate if you could let us know either way if you send it out or not. As the event is tonight, we would appreciate a quick decision.

Many thanks and please call me on 646 660 3252 if I can be of any help.
