This should be a great opportunity to meet others in the Java community and at the same time learn more about effective Software development techniques. As always the doors will open at 5pm for networking, pizza should arrive around 5:30pm, and the presentation will take place at 6pm. Register now to reserve your seat Presentation Overview: This session will include an introduction to the Grails dynamic web application framework and the Groovy language, with highlights from the new features in Grails 2.0 (including agent-based reloading, unit testing mix-ins, and new enhancements to support Servlet 3.0) and Groovy 1.8. We'll also go beyond the basics and demonstrate real-world usage of Grails while live-coding a working Grails application from scratch using Spring, Hibernate, JMS, and other technologies to demonstrate how quickly you can develop Java EE applications in Grails. About our speaker: Burt Beckwith has been a software developer for 15 years, most of that as a JVM developer, and for the last four years working with Grails and Groovy. He is a core developer on the Grails team at SpringSource, and has created over 35 Grails plugins. Burt is a frequent speaker at conferences and user groups where he shares his passion for Grails and other Groovy-based technologies, in particular those that are related to persistence, security, and performance.
