Date: Apr 04/30/09 11:10 AM Subject: [Boston-voice-users] May 12 Meeting Announcement From: "Don Nicklas" A quick reminder- our regular meeting is next week: When: Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 7:30 pm Where: MIT, Room 2-135 (directions below) Topic: Alexander Technique The Boston Voice Users Group is pleased to present Cécile Raynor. Founder of Alexander Technique Associates, she has been practicing in Brookline for about 15 years with students ranging in age from 7 to 77. The Alexander Technique is a mind/body learning process based on the fact that the balance of the head, neck, and back has a fundamental influence upon the functioning of the whole person. It teaches us to become aware of when and how we interfere with our postural reflexes so that we can let go of the unnecessary habitual tension thus created and eventually prevent it. Cécile’s training includes application to dance and voice work. She has experience working with children, parents and pregnant women, but the great majority of her practice consists of people with repetitive stress injuries such as neck, shoulder and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, hip, knee or ankle pain, tension headaches, and breathing and voice problems. A variety of people come to her, from computer users to performing artists or health care professionals. Cécile Raynor is certified by the American Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (AMSAT). Ms Raynors webiste - http://www.alexandertec.com - contains more information about the technique and other resources. Cécile complements her practice by drawing on her experience with exercise, meditation, nutrition, and homeopathy.
