Feel free to pass this invite along! ~Mark ** Boston Network Users Group Monthly General Meeting ** Tuesday - March 3rd - 6:30-9:00PM ** THIS MONTH: "What Massachusetts new data privacy law requires of you" presented by David A. Murray, General Counsel and Gerry Young, MIS Director of the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. As of January 1, 2009, all companies doing business in Massachusetts that own, license, store or maintain personal information concerning any Massachusetts resident must take comprehensive measures to protect that information from unauthorized access, disclosure or misuse. Although the new regulations impose a broad range of requirements, the most pressing compliance issue for many organizations will be the new obligation to encrypt all personal information of Massachusetts residents that is stored on any portable device which includes laptops, flashdrives, Blackberries or cell phones (to the extent feasible) that is transmitted over the Internet or by wireless connections. David Murray and Gerry Young will discuss these new regulations and answer questions about what your organization must do to be in compliance. * Please join us on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:30PM where we will be Meeting at Microsoft's Waltham Offices, 201 Jones Road, Waltham, Mass.
