Ken also writes articles on .NET in MSDN Magazine, VS.NET Magazine, asp.netPRO, and VB.NET Advisor Journal. Ken will be speaking to us about two Access 2007 topics: Interested in Access 2007? There's a lot of new functionality in there. In this talk, you'll learn about two important new features for developers in Access 2007: Creating managed add-ins using Visual Studio 2005, and customizing the Ribbon. You'll see how to take advantage of these features to add functionality to your Access 2007 applications, including having managed code react to Access events, and using the Ribbon to display your own user interface. Here is the Agenda for Access Day: INTRODUCTION TO ACCESS ***************************************************************** Introduction To Table Design -- 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM Presented by: Dean Serrentino of Paradigm Information Systems, Inc. Learn the basics of designing and building Access tables. Dean explains how to leverage the power of the relational database model, while illustrating the importance of a solid design. He'll explain the different types of table relationships, and the role of each. Lastly, the table analyzer wizard will be demonstrated by splitting data from a single Excel spreadsheet into multiple Access tables. INTERMEDIATE ACCESS ***************************************************************** Working with Table Joins -- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Presented by: Dean Serrentino of Paradigm Information Systems, Inc. Relational database design principles dictate that data be split among multiple tables, or normalized. Getting the data "back together" again for forms and reports can sometimes be a daunting task. Dean will explain what you need to know in order to "tame the tables". ***************************************************************** Access Trauma Center -- 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates We'll spend two hours helping to debug, add enhancements, or make design recommendations. The audience is encouraged to bring in real world developer problems that need solving now. Bring your applications on floppy, CD, or Zip Disk. ACCESS DEVELOPER ***************************************************************** Introduction To SQL Server -- 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates In this session, we will work exclusively with SQL Server 2005 and the tools that are available to manage it. The focus of this series is to enable Access developers to design client-server applications using Access as the user interface. ***************************************************************** General Announcements and Forum -- 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates Share information regarding upcoming events, Access bugs, add-on products, and anything else that affects the world of the Access developer. ***************************************************************** Access Replication -- 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Presented by: Mark Nevin Mark explains the concept of Replication and Replica design, topology, and terminology from the perspective of the Access framework. We'll find out how replicas and replications are classified and examine the replication tools contained in Microsoft Access. ***************************************************************** Automating Batch Reports in Multiple Formats -- 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM Presented by: Jeff Oresik Jeff shows us how his automated routine creates reports utilzing different filters and sends them to various users through email or network folders. A third-party tool is used to create files in the Adobe Acrobat format. Next Month's Topics...
