An Overview of the .NET Framework -- 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM Presented by: Richard Hale Shaw of Richard Hale Shaw Group The first answer is easy: if you're building Windows applications and not using .NET, you're on a dead-end path. Microsoft is leaving behind unmanaged code technologies that don't use the .NET Framework. Since its release in February 2002, the .NET Framework has been designated by Microsoft as the primary means of programming Windows, be they Database, Desktop, or Web applications, or re-usable class libraries or components. With the release of .NET 2.0 (November, 2005) and .NET 3.0 (November, 2006), the Framework has come into its own. In this talk, Richard will explain what the Framework is, how it works and the advantages of moving to Managed Code (that uses .NET) and away from unmanaged code technologies.
