From: donald nicklas Subject: [Boston-voice-users] September Meeting Announcement Date: Sun, 28 Aug 2005 18:38:55 +0000 Here is the September meeting notice: When: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 Where: MIT, Room 2-135 (directions below) Topic: Voice Recognition Software and Its Effect on Vocal Function Tara Stadelman-Cohen, B.M.Ed., M.S., CCC-SLP, will present “Voice Recognition Software and Its Effect on Vocal Function” on Tuesday, September 13th, 2005. Basic laryngeal anatomy will be addressed, in addition to information regarding vocal hygiene, postural alignment, respiratory management, laryngeal function, resonant voice, and articulation in order to promote a healthy and efficient voice production. Ms. Stadelman-Cohen is a vocal pathologist/singing voice specialist at the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at the Massachusetts General Hospital, an instructor at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, and a clinical supervisor of graduate students in speech-language pathology. Ms. Stadelman-Cohen performs acoustic and aerodynamic analysis of voice production, in addition to both transoral and transnasal laryngeal endoscopy for vocal tract visualization. She has provided voice therapy treatment for a wide array of adult voice disorders, including those of organic, functional, and neurogenic etiology, in addition to transgendered voice, with clinical specialization in rehabilitation of the injured professional voice. She is currently a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
