From: Dan Jacobs Subject: Announcing bostonEDGE.org - Boston Eclipse Developers Group & Exchange Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2005 12:09:41 +0000 Announcing bostonEDGE.org I pleased to announce the formation of bostonEDGE.org, the Boston area's Eclipse Developers Group & Exchange. bostonEDGE.org is a non-commercial, non-affiliated, no-fee, no-dues, fully open professional group, serving the needs of the Boston area Eclipse development community. The group will hold 2-hour meetings once a month, on the second Tuesday of each month. The group will focus on all areas of software development for the Eclipse platform, and particularly on plugin development and rich client platform development. The emphasis is not on using Eclipse as an IDE, but rather on developing software for the Eclipse platform, and on learning about the frameworks and packages available for developing plugins and applications. The first meeting will be on September 13, from 7 to 9 pm, at the IBM office on 81 Hartwell Ave in Lexington. The folks at IBM have generously offered to provide facilities for the group's meetings, and have been extremely helpful in getting the group started. This first meeting will be an open kick-off where everyone is welcome to discuss the group's goals, topics, speakers, and anything else that comes up. Registration for the first meeting is not required (support for registration is not yet implemented), but please send me email if you plan to attend so I'll have a rough idea about how many people to expect. The group's website (such as it is!) is at http://www.bostonEDGE.org, and you can find meeting details and directions there. The site will be evolving over the coming months to provide more features and support for the group, as well as moving to better hosting. All the best, Dan Jacobs President, ModelObjects Group - http://www.modelobjects.com Chairman, ACM Boston WebTech Chapter - http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech Organizer, bostonEDGE.org - http://www.bostonEDGE.org
