Learn the basics of designing and building Access tables. Dean explains how to leverage the power of the relational database model, while illustrating the importance of a solid design. He'll explain the different types of table relationships, and the role of each. Lastly, the table analyzer wizard will be demonstrated by splitting data from a single Excel spreadsheet into multiple Access tables. INTERMEDIATE ACCESS ***************************************************************** Intro. To VBA, Part 2 of 5 - The Building-Blocks of Code -- 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Presented by: Dean Serrentino of Paradigm Information Systems, Inc. We continue our series on Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in Access this month, with a discussion of the most common and useful components of VBA procedures. After a short review of Part I, Dean will cover data types, variables, constants, string concatenation, and built-in Access functions. A laptop computer (not supplied) is needed to participate, but all are welcome to attend. ***************************************************************** Access Trauma Center -- 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates We'll spend two hours helping to debug, add enhancements, or make design recommendations. The audience is encouraged to bring in real world developer problems that need solving now. Bring your applications on floppy, CD, or Zip Disk. ACCESS DEVELOPER ***************************************************************** General Announcements and Forum -- 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates Share information regarding upcoming events, Access bugs, add-on products, and anything else that affects the world of the Access developer. ***************************************************************** What Happens When? A Look At The Order Of Events In Access -- 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM Presented by: Ed Craddock of C&L Assoc In this session Ed will demonstrate a useful utility that he built to demonstrate the order of events in an Access form. ***************************************************************** Tools for Access Developers -- 7:00 PM - 7:45 PM Presented by: Russ Ganz of Desktop Access Systems Russ will talk about available software tools for Access Developers. He will demonstrate 'Find and Replace', Microsoft Notes, Clip Cache and other programs that he uses to make the Access development process easier. ***************************************************************** Working With Temporary Databases -- 7:45 PM - 8:30 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates As developers, we often need to cache our data in temporary tables. We might do this to simplify the gathering of data in a different structure for use in queries and reports. This often leads to the unnecessary bloating of our application or data files. That, in turn may require more maintenance (i.e. compacting the database regularly). By using an external database file for temporary objects, we can avoid the above mentioned issues. In this presentation we will look at creating self-maintaining temporary database tables. News and Announcements... Philip Leduc has volunteered for the position of External Relationships Program (ERP) Coordinator. The ERP program is a new undertaking for the group. As Coordinator, Philip will be soliciting donations and discounts from Access-related vendors on behalf of the group, in exchange for promotion of their product or service. For more information, or if you are a vendor and are interested in participating in the ERP program, please contact Philip via the BAUG web site at http://bostonaccessday.com/erp.cfm
