Our panel will discuss the various strengths of Flash and Director, then we'll open the floor to general discussion. Our goal is to gain an understanding of the strengths of each platform, *not* to determine which is "better". Zealots on either side will be led outside and shot :-) so please come and join us with an open mind for constructive discussion. A. Hardin Gray: Hardin is a Director and Flash programmer with over 9 years of CD-ROM, Shockwave, kiosk, game, and sales presentation experience for a wide range of clients from ABC Television to Virgin Airways. He has a strong belief in the importance of good interface design and often consults as an information architect for large websites. He also composes original scores and soundtracks for interactive projects. Matt Kaminski: Matt Kaminski is a certified FlashMX 2004 Developer and Designer. He has been programming in Director for ten years and Flash for five years. He is also a Macromedia certified Instructor in a number of Macromedia products and has been teaching through Future Media Concepts, a Macromedia Authorized Training Partner, in Cambridge, for over five years. Matt holds Masters degrees in Secondary Education and Cognitive Psychology with an emphasis on Human Factors. He has done graduate research in principle-based visual display design in the Engineering Psychology Research Lab at UIUC, and undergraduate research with multi-modal human-computer interfaces in the MIT Media Lab. Matt has been operating his own, one-person company, Timepieces, Inc., since 1997. His niche is programming in Flash and Director, and helping companies create computer-based training/educational pieces. Lou Susi: Lou Susi is the Principal and Senior Interactive Media Developer for BXOS !nteractive! Since 1999 BXOS has strengthened the corporate ID and branding of several New England area companies - creating online rich media campaigns that leave a lasting impression on the viewer | end-user. The BXOS client list includes Raytheon, Veritas, DGA, Security Innovation, Tufts University, Centive, SentitO, greenGoat, Mobius, Ipswitch, 3GWT Partners and Neteos. Lou holds a bachelors degree in Fine Art from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with an emphasis on performance and installation art. He teaches Aesthetic and Critical Studies coursework at UML, and currently works in virtual | cyber and performative media. His main focus explores the intersection of online and offscreen life experience, oftentimes incorporating surreality and humor in a playful manner.
