Dan Housman, VP and Co-founder of Viapoint Corp. a leading provider of desktop organizational tools, will speak about the Viapoint Smart Organizer, a popular desktop application for automatically organizing virtual folders that collect and correlate content with Microsoft Outlook correspondences by combining content with information including files, RSS, chat, and Google Desktop Search. The client includes adapters to scan and listen to changes in multiple applications through a growing set of adapters soon to include Skype and a major news aggregator. The application stores all content in a Microsoft SQL database (Desktop MSDE, server MSSQL). Viapoint is now working with partners and clients to deliver enterprise applications based on collecting and correlating content stored in Microsoft Exchange and using the desktop client as an agent to report key resource information back to a centralized server for analysis, system integration, collaboration, and systems management. Applications currently being investigated include litigation/compliance and data security, human resources to model impact from reorganization and lay-offs, data mining for CRM, and integration between enterprise applications with the desktop. Viapoint will be giving a short presentation on the Smart Organizer client and planned enterprise application opportunities. http://www.viapoint.com TechEd is just around the corner and to the Exchange Community that usually means some announcements. Jim Steinmark of Microsoft Consulting Services will join us on Wednesday, June 8th with news, discussion, and demonstrations of things Exchange-related from TechEd in Orlando. Expect to hear about Service Pack 2 (SP2) which Microsoft recently mentioned would have significant improvements for Public Folder Management. Previous SP2 tidbits have included support for SenderID which should significantly reduce SPAM, and an update to the Intelligent Message Filter. Mobility enhancements have also been mentioned (Exchange ActiveSync). There has been talk of support for running Exchange 2003 SP2 in Virtual Server environments (if you are brave). Any additional information on E12 due in late 2006 will also be revealed. Come and find out what these features look like before the ExchangeServerBoston user group goes on summer vacation. Jim will also take questions on most any Exchange topic! · Meetings start at 6:30 PM and end by 9:00 PM at the Microsoft Waltham MA office. Avinti Inc., a leading provider of e-mail outbreak protection, launched iSolation Server 2.0, a next-generation anti-virus layer capable of stopping unknown and rapidly changing e-mail viruses. Avinti's iSolation Server is the first e-mail outbreak protection solution using virtual machine technology to test for actual behavior in an e-mail and identify viruses for which there is no known pattern or signature. Through the use of virtual machines, Avinti iSolation Server takes the guesswork out of e-mail virus protection by observing actual malicious behavior in a secure, "virtual" environment. This provides visibility into a stream of data that has previously been little more than a mystery. Avinti's iSolation Server is capable of detecting various viral behaviors, including attempts to access the Microsoft Outlook address book, insert itself into the registry or alter the system directory. The design of the Avinti iSolation Server is such that it is capable of detecting specific behaviors that are used to compromise security. With the release of version 2.0, Avinti continues to augment the solution so that protection is in place even before new vulnerabilities are discovered.
