From: Dan Jacobs Subject: WebTech Tues 7/19 - Jini and JavaSpaces in an SOA world Date: Wed, 13 Jul 2005 19:37:44 +0000 Hi everyone. The WebTech meeting this month will be on Tuesday the 19th, 7 to 9 pm, at the IBM Innovation Center for Business Partners in Waltham. This month's meeting will feature a presentation by Alex Krapf on "Jini and JavaSpaces in an SOA world." Details and directions will be up on the website at http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech. Find out more about these technologies from one of the most insightful members of our community. I hope you can make it! One more thing. I'm thinking about organizing an informal, outdoor gathering (maybe including a barbeque) for our August 16th meeting. How many of you would be interested in that? How many of you would be willing to help out? You can let me know by email to me at djacobs@modelobjects.com. Thanks! Dan Jacobs, Chairmain -------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: Jini and JavaSpaces in an SOA world Abstract: Everybody is talking about Service oriented architectures and Enterprise service buses. Jini and JavaSpaces have embodied the concepts behind these buzzwords for about 7 years now. We'll take a look at what makes Jini tick and what distinguishes it from technologies like Web services. About the speaker: Alex Krapf is the President and co-founder of Codemesh, Inc., a firm specializing in programming language interoperability. When he's not cursing compiler implementors while working on adding compiler- or platform-support to the Codemesh product line, he's very interested in distributed computing and particularly in Jini.
