From: "Owen Hartnett" Subject: MacTechGroup Meeting Feb 2 (Ground Hog Day) Date: Monday, January 31, 2005 9:25 PM MacTechGrp Meeting Feb 2 2005 7-9PM Room 325 Bldg E51 MIT Sloan School Using Cocoa to Inspect a Package BOM After installing a package, have you wondered what was installed where? You can use the lsbom command in a terminal session to find out or you can use Cocoa to launch lsbom and then display the output in an outline view much like the Finder's list view. In this month's presentation, Tom Elwertowski shows how use Interface Builder to create the interface, the NSTask and NSPipe classes to run a subprocess and extract its output and the NSOutlineView class to present the output in a hierarchical list view. As you have probably noticed, we have moved to a new list server for the mail announcements. Information on this list server is at: Note: The room number is officially 395, but we often move to a room with a better projector, which has been room 315 for some time. So now I am just going to announce 315, if we're not in there, continue to the next rooms to the right until you find us. Failing all this, we will try to find a room on the first floor. You can get a map showing building E51 at The MacTechGrp always meets the first Wednesday of the month. (Sometimes I screw up the date of the notice, but it's always the first Wednesday) You can get more information on the MacTechGrp (and currently out of date meeting information) at http://www.codewell.com/mactechgrp To contact the unindicted co-conspirator irresponsible for this group, email owen@@@@@@ids.net *** Do you aspire to someday speak before the august MacTechGrp? Whether you're a new programmer or an old pro, you probably have something interesting you could tell the rest of the group. Fear not, your lucky day could be at hand, but slots are filling fast. Send an email to owen@ids.net with your proposed topic.*** __
