As the Architect of Microsoft's Natural User Interface team in the Windows Client Division, Rob Chambers is responsible for delivering the next generation speech user experience in Windows Vista. Rob has worked in the field of speech recognition since 1999, when he first led the development of the Speech API version 5.0 (SAPI 5). After shipping SAPI 5, Rob left the Speech group and joined the Tablet PC team where he convinced Tablet PC management to speech enable Tablet PC's first release with Rob as the Development Lead. After shipping Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Rob rejoined the Speech group in 2003 as a Technical Lead responsible for the architecture of the next generation managed Speech API. Soon after returning to the Speech group, Rob convinced Kai-Fu Lee, then VP of the Natural Interactive Services Division, to allocate appropriate resources to build a team focused on the Speech Recognition end use experience to enable Rob to finally build his vision of speech on the desktop. Rob joined Microsoft in 1995 after graduating Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree of Computer Science from Northern Kentucky University. For wheelchair access, there is a ramp and door to the left of the stairs at 77 Mass. Ave. (behind the bus stop) This entrance gives you basement level access to the elevator in Lobby 7 (the lobby at 77 Mass. Ave).
