Abstract: The Team Software Process SM -- Breaking the Software Process Improvement Barrier Alan Willett from the Software Engineering Institute is coming to the Boston SPIN to provide an in depth look at the Team Software Process SM. Most software organizations have goals to deliver high quality software, on time, with their best possible productivity. Unfortunately, most software organizations also struggle with these goals. A common model for many software organizations is to deliver software products late and then "test quality in" after the fact. Organizations have every intention of improving but face many barriers to their improvement objectives. Alan will demonstrate how the Team Software Process (TSP SM) has broken these barriers. The talk will showcase several software projects that have applied TSP and provide examples of how they have delivered very high quality software on time. About the Speaker: Alan Willett has 20+ years of experience in software development. He has written software, managed software development projects, participated on various Engineering Process Groups, and is a TSP Coach. Alan is now a member of the technical staff at the Software Engineering Institute working with the team developing the Team Software Process. Alan has a Masters of Science in the Management of Technology. Alan has helped many projects apply the Team Software Process. The companies he has helped include Intuit, Xerox, NASA and others. About the Roundtables: Roundtables are focused group or "birds-of-a-feather" discussions, with a facilitator, to stimulate and moderate discussion. Forums are continuing discussions with a central theme, e.g., the Software Testing Forum and the Software Process Improvement Forum. These discussion groups are held during the Networking portion of the SPIN meeting from 6:00 to 6:45. 1.
