For businesses, the eBay marketplace is a rich platform making trading easier for eBay's 85 million users. For developers, eBay provides a cross-platform XML-based API to programmatically access the eBay web-service platform. This first half of this discussion will cover the business needs and advantages of accessing the eBay marketplace platform. Using tools and gaining access to historical transaction data, both on and off eBay businesses can be more efficient buying and selling and make more informed product or pricing decisions. The second half of the presentation will be directed toward custom software development using the eBay API. eBay's Developers Program allows application programmers API access to our web-service platform. As we are working on the SearchHelper app with Eclipse and IntelliJ, I'd like to get 4.0 integrated with the Java eBay SOAP API as well as the JBoss 3.2.3 configuration at eApps.com. So, here's the offer. I have a full licensed copy of IntelliJ 4.0 ($500 value) that I'd like to offer to anyone who can use it to do the following: 1) Integrate IntelliJ with JBoss 3.2.3 running with JVM 1.4.2_03. Also, as this current version of IntelliJ can run ANT, it also has the ability to create the ear, war and ejb descriptors without having to create a build file. It doesn't, however, create the JBoss descriptor files. 2) Now, 4.0 has a pretty easy to use GUI builder. I'd like to have a screen created that will automate the creation of these JBoss descriptors before the build function is run. Another option is to create a JBoss 3.2.3 plugin. 3) The current debugger works pretty nice with remote web apps running in JBoss 3.2.3/Tomcat or just Tomcat alone. The IntelliJ settings need to be figured out so that we can debug ejb on the eApps JBoss server as well as the web apps located there. 4) There is also an integrated CVS module in 4.0. Using the current www.SourceHosting.com account, we will need the IntelliJ CVS feature working properly as well with all the source files, libs and project files stored at SourceHosting. 5) As time is an issue to reach the deadline of the SearchHelper app, the above work will have to be done by March 10. Last, whoever does this work, if you can spend a little time with me explaining the work you've done, I'll make a Qarbon viewlet demo so that we can use this for the April ManJUG meeting as well as a how to doc for the QSAB development team. If the above is a little too much work for the deadline, I may be able to get another full license copy to get someone else to work with ya. Just let me know. However, it is important that the work get done by March 10. ------------------------------------------------------- Audio Slide show for Feb 11 ManJUG meeting ------------------------------------------------------- If there are any other members of the ManJUG who'd like to join the ManJUG sponsored SearchHelper QSAB project, please send me an email. I'll send you a link to the audio slide show from last months' meeting . We still need some manager types as well as marketing savvy software pros.
