Fox Subject: [Boston-voice-users] Macros I Can Recall, Tues, Feb. 10, 7:30pm, MIT 2-142 Macros I Can Recall, An intentionally modest proposal for a speech recognition command grammar by Kim Patch http://www.scriven.com/ Tuesday, February 10, 7:30 PM MIT, Room 2-142 (directions below) This is a talk about how to write macros, but I'm not going to talk about code. I'm here to talk about two other aspects of macros: how they are worded, and some basic principles of human-computer interaction. Over the past year I've rewritten many of my commands to follow a standard grammar. I'll explain why this has made commands easier to remember, cut down on the number of commands I have to say, and generally sped things up. I'll demonstrate comprehensive sets of keystroke and text macros that follow the grammar. The grammar is small and organized enough that during the course of the talk you'll learn quite a bit of it. David Fox Boston Voice Users www.bostonvoiceusers.com -------------------------------------------- Directions to room: Go in the main door of MIT, at 77 Mass. For wheelchair access, there is a ramp and door to the left of the stairs at 77 Mass. Ave. (behind the bus stop) This entrance gives you basement level access to the elevator in Lobby 7 (the lobby at 77 Mass. Ave).
