Software Quality Group Meeting Meetings of the Software Quality Group are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the facilities of Sun Microsystems, Burlington (Driving directions below). MEETING DAY & DATE: Wednesday, Mar. 12 2003 TIME: 6:00 PM Networking, 6:30 PM Meeting HEADLINE: Surviving and Thriving in Virtual Teams SPEAKER: Linda McInnis, Noble Associates, MORE INFO: John Pustaver, 978-443-4254, pustaver@ieee.org LOCATION: Sun Microsystems, Burlington (Driving directions below) DESCRIPTION: As there is more and more shuffling and reshuffling of teams in the global economy, many teams don't work in the same country much less share common space in the same building. How do you operate on teams you can't see or speak to directly, how do you manage groups like this and what tools can help you get the job done? This talk describes how we operated in a virtual team where we had employees in 3 time zones, 7 states and 5 different lifestyles and how we came together to develop a Palm based medical application. Linda McInnis is on a mission to make developing software easier and more human. She has almost 30 years of working on software development teams as a Quality Engineer, Technical Writer, Manager and Trainer. In these 30 years she's seen the good, the bad and the really ugly sides of the development process. To improve the situation, she founded The Computer School in Acton to teach better practice and technical skills to developers, managers, and quality personnel. For the past 20 years she has been a principal in Noble Associates, Inc. a consulting firm specializing in Quality Assurance, Technical Documentation and Project Management. Ms. McInnis holds a B. S. in Physics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and has pursued graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. She is currently listed in Whos Who in the East and Whos Who of Business Leaders and is a member of the ACM and IEEE societies. She is past Chairman of Boston SPIN. 2002-2003 Software Quality Group Calendar Sep 18, 2002: John Pustaver, Flavors of Software Test Automation Oct. 9, 2002: Dan Goddu, Applying the CSQE Body of Knowledge (BOK) to the Workplace as a Method of Process Improvement Nov. 13, 2002: Marc Rene, GTECH, Introducing and Sustaining a Worldwide Software Inspection Process Dec. 11, 2002: Howie Dow, What is a Black Belt?
