An introduction to the underlying technologies of XML, XSD, WSDL and SOAP. If time allows, we will discuss the emerging dichotomy between web services as remote procedure calls vs. web services as message based systems and the advantages and limitations of the .NET support for Web Services. Jesse Liberty is the author of Programming ASP.NET and Programming C# (O'Reilly) as well as a dozen other books on web development and object-oriented programming. He is a frequent contributor to industry journals, and has been a regular columnist for C++ Report and the Intel Developer web site. Jesse is the president of Liberty Associates, Inc., where he provides on-site training, consulting and contract programming. He is a former Vice President of Citibank, and Distinguished Software Engineer for AT&T. Main Meeting Presentation - GDI+ and Custom Winform Controls by Jesse Chunn Jesse will explain the basics of how to use GDI+ in the context of creating a Custom Control for Windows Forms. The concepts shown can be used to "draw" on practically anything, including forms, pictureboxes, and custom controls. There will be no Powerpoints... code only. A basic understanding of Visual Basic is required. All code will be made available for download after the presentation. When Jesse is done, you will know everything you need to know to create a user drawn custom winforms control from scratch. Jesse Chunn is the President of Standard I-O, Inc. Standard I-O was founded by Jesse Chunn in 1995 as a one man software development company. In 1996, with more work than a single person could do, he hired one, then another programmer. Realizing that he was onto something, Jesse rented some office space and began to actively grow the company. Since then, Standard I-O has grown into a full-scale custom software provider with a professional staff of Microsoft certified developers and graphic designers. With specialists in web-design, marketing, wireless technologies, human resource management and, of course, enterprise software architecture, Standard I-O has become a one-stop source for technology services.
