Abstract: Five Sigma® Project Management: Emerging practices in project management Learn how to apply the latest business thinking about ^Óthree sigma^Ô quality and ^Ósix sigma^Ô manufacturing to your projects by using the breakthrough concept of Five Sigma project management. Building on the PMBOK Guide and the ^Ócritical chain,^Ô Five Sigma project management creates a new approach that weaves together the latest thinking about ^Ócommon cause^Ô and ^Óspecial cause^Ô variations in systems that are projects. Five Sigma project planning blends sophisticated estimating into a robust schedule and budget, then adds the best in product quality and risk management. This is the approach for the 21st century manager of a technical project. The presentation will address specific skills such as: · Range-based estimation of effort and duration · Drawing the ^Ówork rectangle^Ô of days and staff-days (^Óstays^Ô), and combining them into a Nevison Time-Scaled Network (NTSN©) Logic Diagram · Progress measurement techniques, such as ^Óbuffer^Ô management and ^Óearned value^Ô status reporting · How to manage a team of creative individuals engaged in unpredictable work · Using the latest terminology from the PMBOK Guide · How to integrate these state-of-the-art ideas into the beliefs and practices of the often-resistant organization About the Speaker: John M.
