Five flavors of test automation are covered in this presentation: o Record and Playback o Data-Driven o Table-Driven at the Design Level o Table-Driven at the Requirements Level o Randomly-Driven The advantages, disadvantages, and requirements for each are discussed. Table driven approaches are also referred to as keyword driven, action word driven or fully data driven. WinRunner is used for the demonstration. John Pustaver is president of SWQuality, Inc, a software quality consulting company. Deming trained, he is an ASQ (American Society for Quality) Certified Software Quality Engineer, an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, and an ICCP Certified Computing Professional. He has over 30 years of experience as a software developer, development manager, quality manager and consultant. He is an Associate Editor of the ASQ journal Software Quality Professional, founder/director of the Software Quality Group of New England, has been the ASQ Software Division Region I (New England) councilor since 1994 and was the conference chair for the 9th International Conference on Software Quality. He was the Awards Chair for the ASQ Software Division from 1997-99. He was on the conference committee for SEPG95.
