We are starting up the user group once again this Thursday after our summer layoff. I hope you all had a good summer. We have reviewed the feed back we got from all of you at our last meeting in June changed a few things. Most important to note is the new start time. We will now be starting at 6:00 pm. We will still have two sessions each month. The first will be an introduction level 100-200 session and the second will be a more in-depth 300-400 level session. This month we have the following lined up for you: Session 1: Speaker: Raheel Retiwalla Company: Microsoft Topic: Intro to SQL Server Security Description: We will discuss SQL Server security from a server perspective as well as database perspective. We will look at groups and roles within the database as well as talk about application roles and how to use them. Other tools that will allow you to be proactive in scanning your security environment that are available from Microsoft will be discussed as well. Session 2: Speaker: Andrew Kelly Company: TargitInteractive, Inc. Topic: Performance minded database maintenance Description: See the key steps to keep a DB running at peak performance. We will explore areas such as Reindexing, DBCC's, Bulk Inserts, data archiving, backups and much more. Learn why you need these tasks and how to properly implement them in a multi-user environment. We will also explore how a proper hardware configuration is key for top performance in these area's. As usual we will have free pizza and drinks.
