From: "Owen Hartnett" Subject: MacTechGrp Meeting - Oct 2 Date: Thursday, September 26, 2002 2:20 PM MacTechGrp Meeting Oct 4, 2002 7-9PM Room 315 Bldg E51 MIT Sloan School Topic: Templates From the new Dictionary in Jaguar's Sherlock: "2. Computer Science a. A document or file having a preset format, used as a starting point for a particular application so that the format does not have to be recreated each time it is used: a loan amortization template for a spreadsheet program. b. An overlay that fits over all or part of a keyboard and has labels describing the functions of each key within a particular application." Our template discussion will be about C++ templates, a real "Computer Science" meaning of the term. Miro Jurisic continues his celebrated series on advanced programming techniques with an in-depth look at templates, what they do, when you use them, how to use them. Miro's series has been a source of invaluable info, such that, even though you think you know the topic, you'll still find there's more to know. I can't say enough about how good these sessions have been. Plug: I'm currently looking for Mac Programming Work. You can reply to this email for more info. Note: The room number is officially 395, but we often move to a room with a better projector, which has been room 315 for some time. So now I am just going to announce 315, if we're not in there, continue to the next rooms to the right until you find us. Alternately, I still leave a note on the blackboard in room 395, so just dereference that. You can get a map showing building E51 at The MacTechGrp always meets the first Wednesday of the month. You can get more information on the MacTechGrp (and sometimes out of date meeting information) at http://www.codewell.com/mactechgrp To contact the unindicted co-conspirators irresponsible for this group, email owen@ids.net or sgs@codewell.com. *** Do you aspire to someday speak before the august MacTechGrp? Whether you're a new programmer or an old pro, you probably have something interesting you could tell the rest of the group. Fear not, your lucky day could be at hand, but slots are filling fast. Send an email to eric@slosser.net with your proposed topic.*** ********** MACTECHGRP MILK CARTON ************* We're looking for people who can speak about: Teaching Dogs to Bark in ASCII Programming Fishing Simulators so you Never get a Nibble, even.
