This month's WebTech meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 18, starting at 7:00pm at the IBM SPC in Waltham. Details and directions are available on the website at http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech. The feature presentation this month will be given by Howard Lewis Ship, the author of Tapestry. Tapestry is an open-source Java framework for creating dynamic web applications. It is an alternative to JSP, designed in the spirit of WebObjects and other purely object-oriented web application development frameworks. This is very innovative technology that addresses many real shortcomings of other approaches. I hope to see you there! Abstract: Tapestry is a powerful, open-source Java framework for creating web applications. Using Tapestry, developer can create richer, more interactive, more robust applications using significantly less code. This discussion will include an overview of Tapestry, the problems it addresses and the solutions it provides, as well as a light-speed introduction to coding using the framework. A live demonstration of a running Tapestry application will also be provided. About the speaker: Howard Lewis Ship is a Java developer for WebCT, the leading provider of e-learning solutions to the global higher education market. Previously he was a senior software consultant for the internet consulting company Primix.
