From: "FallingWaters" Subject: Meeting of Access/VB User Group at Pease Tradeport Date: Friday, February 01, 2002 1:03 PM PRESS RELEASE for Immediate Release WHAT: Meeting of Seacoast Microsoft Access and Client/Server User Group (FREE) WHERE: Daniel Webster College at Pease International Tradeport, 119 International Drive, Portsmouth, NH Tel 603-430-4077 DIRECTIONS: Enter Pease off the Spaulding Turnpike via Gosling Road. Take a left at the first traffic light. DWC will be about a mile and a half on the left. DWC contact is Rebecca Harlow at 603-430-4077 WHEN: Moday, February 4, 2002 at 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM Program - The Monday before the first Tuesday seems to be a good date for meetings, and if so we can resume, starting this Monday. We could use volunteers for programs, so please step up to the plate with your accomplishments, problems, etc. Our host provides an LCD with large screen plus an internet connection which makes it nice. For this session, we can demonstrate the use of ASP pages, VB Script and ADO to connect to an MS Access database running on a Web Server. The application features connection via any browser, and a wild card or index lookup to locate members for a local chamber of commerce - We can also demo an application that features a time-card web-based application complete with on-screen report suitable for pasting into an Excel spreadsheet. Also, we can demonstrate a neat automation of Outlook via Access - The application allows Outlook to be used to schedule tutorial sessions for high schoolers studying for their SAT's. The client needs a visual means for quickly matching the open time slots for nearly fifty tutors, each of which has a specialization plus their own Outlook calendar. There are a number of billing issues which are solved via automation and ADO. Basically all appointments are imported automatically into Access for tracking, rescheduling, and reconciliation of billings based on scheduled appointments in Outlook, and records in Access. If anyone has worked with MS Exchange, your comments on automation would be of great interest. An interesting exercise. Your ideas for future programming will be appreciated - and please let us know who we might have in to give guest presentations. All the best - Bob Young 603-591-8040 rjyoung@javanet.com More on Automation - using Access to update MS Project plus web-based use of MS Access. We can also review use of Access to synch with MS Outlook and drill down to custom folders on MS Exchange. CMR is reported to be of greater interest to companies than any other application. We can show an example, and discuss your issues. For information call Bob Young at 603-591-8049 or rjyoung@javanet.com
