Presented by: Dean Serrentino, (d.serrentino@ai-host.net) In part 2 Dean will explore the uses for different query types. He will also be discussing ways to solve common Access problems using Queries. ************************************** MICROSOFT ACCESS 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM ************************************** "CONFIGURING ACCESS" Presented by: Dean Serrentino, (d.serrentino@ai-host.net) Ever wondered what all of the options in the Access configuration screens do? Find out as Dean explains each option and its usage. *************************************** "WHAT'S NEW IN 2002?" Presented by: Dean Serrentino, (d.serrentino@ai-host.net) Whether you are new to Access, or familiar with a previous Access version, this segment is for you. Dean will discuss the new features and functionality enhancements available in the Office XP version of Access (Access 2002). ***************************************** THE ACCESS TRAUMA CENTER 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM ***************************************** Presented by: John Giuliano, Stone-Crowne Associates, (jgiuliano@stone-crowne.com) Does Access depress you at times? Do you bang your head against the wall trying to get Access to do things that are common functions in other applications? Does your blood pressure rise trying to format reports to look just like the boss's old favorites? Does the mere thought of opening the code window give you anxiety attacks? We have just what the doctor ordered. -- "The Access Trauma Center" Each month from 4:30 to 5:30 we will solve (or try to solve) problems posed by the audience. The hour will be broken up into different segments: 'Triage' (5 minutes) -- Here we poll the audience for pressing and perplexing problems to solve. (Please no "nice to know" questions. Our goal will be to help the suffering victims of Access.) ***PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR DISKS FOR TRIAGE*** 'Emergency Surgery' (45 minutes) - Here we diagnose the problems and find working solutions. We will build forms, reports, and code modules that demonstrate methods discussed. No cosmetic surgery will be performed here. Emergency surgery is not pretty. Expect ugly forms and reports. If you have a weak stomach, it may be best to retire to the waiting room. Copies of the working solutions and code will be available for any who request such. 'Is The Patient Still Breathing?' (5 minutes) - Q&A dealing with quick verbal solutions to problems that did not require on-screen demonstrations of solutions. 'Doctor, It Hurts When I Do This...' (5 minutes) - A short session on things to watch out for as you develop applications. Each month we will discuss different topics. Did we mention we are also a research facility? In the event of too few questions, a topic vital to the health and well-being of all intermediate level Access Users will be covered. ************************************ MICROSOFT ACCESS: Evening Session User Group Meeting 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM ************************************ "PRE-GAME SHOW" Bring your Access problems and questions! Bend the ear of an experienced Access developer or power user to get "real-life" answers to your "real-life" database problems! ************************************ MICROSOFT ACCESS 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM ************************************ "OPEN FORUM" Stand Up and be heard... general announcements, suggestions, etc. ************************************ MICROSOFT ACCESS Main Meeting 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM ************************************ "VB SCRIPT" Presented by: Jackie Grubb, Plum Suite Solutions, (jackie@plumsuite.com) Inspired by Frank Butash's recent VB script demonstration, Jackie will demonstrate a VB script she developed for herself to automate her own data backups. She will also show an Access routine that she adapted from Access VB SQL Advisor magazine which uses VB script commands within Access to generate a list of directories for a list box choice. ************************************ 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM ************************************* "AN ACCESS DATA DICTIONARY" Presented by: Frank Butash, B.E.E. Associates, Int'l., (FrankButash@email.msn.com) Data dictionaries are essential when managing large information systems serviced by many developers and users. Many commercial products provide this feature, but they are usually large and complex systems requiring a lot of effort to implement. A simple database to keep track of Table Field names and definitions, that can be shared by developers, can bring order out of chaos, and can be easily maintained by busy developers. Systems Standards and Software Quality Assurance are topics of concern for information systems professionals. These programs begin with a Data Dictionary. A sample project that will be developed further in future talks will be made available to attendees. **************************************************************************** ***********************SPECIAL REQUEST****************** Our MS Access User Group is looking for speakers to round out our schedule of presenters for MS Access Day.
