From: "Colin Godfrey" Subject: SIGGRAPH/BOSTON and SMPTE meeting Wed Dec 18 Date: Friday, December 13, 2002 4:04 PM Joint SIGGRAPH/BOSTON and SMPTE Meeting Wednesday, Dec 18, 2002 NETWORKED DIGITAL VIDEO Broadcast Nonlinear Editing/Server Applications Ed Krasnow Pinnacle Systems When: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 6:30 - 9:00 pm (Networking 6:30 to 7. Presentation starts at 7) Where: National Boston Video Center 115 Dummer St. (Just off Comm Ave near BU) Brookline, MA 02146 617-734-4800 As the broadcast world migrates from analog to digital, tape to disk, and standalone workstations to networked systems, there are lots of challenges to be overcome: How to handle different formats, timebases, video/audio I/Os, server interfaces, NLE delivery, and cross-platform sharing of video, graphics, animation, and sound. Pinnacle Systems has dedicated its entire broadcast focus to networked digital video and audio solutions that allow new and existing content to be shared through network infrastructures. At the heart of this interactivity is Pinnacle's powerful Liquid software working in their Palladium infrastructure. The Liquid application offers all the traditional power of a high-end non-linear workstation, but was designed for network-connected workflow. Liquid systems offer flexible input and output choices, true multi-format editing (IMX, DVCPRO-50, DVCPRO 25, DVCAM, MPEG 2, DV, and Uncompressed) with high-speed background processing, real-time workflow, and accelerated delivery to networked servers, graphics workstations, and other networked devices. Ed Krasnow, Senior Product Specialist for Pinnacle Systems, will be demonstrating Pinnacle's Liquid Blue and Silver sharing media on a Rorke Data 2 Gb Fiber SAN delivering finished content to a Pinnacle Thunder server (provided by Pete Ross of NNY).
