Do such books have a role in distance education? In traditional schools? There seems to be enormous potential for this bare-bones, low-cost approach. Books in this format are readable with a wide variety of devices and readers, rather than publishers, can control type size, font, and other characteristics of presentation to suit their needs and tastes. In contrast, encryption schemes and ebook gadgets get in the way of people getting the full benefit of books in electronic form. If this subject interests you, please read my "Teachers' and Students' Guide: Suggestions on how to get the most out of your books on CD ROM" at http://www.samizdat.com/guide.html and join us for this chat session. To connect, go to http://www.samizdat.com/chat-intro.html We'll be on, as usual, from noon to 1 PM Eastern Time (GMT -4). For links to transcripts of previous sessions, check http://www.samizdat.com/chat.html Please let me know your suggestions for other guests and topics. I'm looking for interesting and innovative business models, products, and services. seltzer@samizdat.com Please send email with your follow-on questions and comments, and requests to receive email reminders about upcoming sessions. Best wishes.
