Date: Mon, 3 Sep 2001 20:45:06 -0700 (PDT) From: NEJUG President Subject: September Meeting Announcement It's that time again to start thinking about the next Nejug meeting. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13th at 6:00pm at the Sun Campus in Burlington. You can view details about the meeting by viewing the Nejug web site at http://www.nejug.org. The J2EE mini topic will be presented by Charlie Alfred of Foliage. He will talk to us about his experiences with JMS, and how it integrates with EJB. Charlie only has 30 minutes for his presentation. Good luck Charlie! The main topic will be presented by Mike Champion, an R&D Specialist from Software AG in Michigan. Mike will be speaking to the group about XML and Java. Mike has titled this topic "XML for Java Geeks". Mike will be telling us what we, as Java geeks, need to know about XML, what are the uses of XML within a J2EE architecture, and what XML should not be used for. If you have not already pre-registered for the meeting, please do so at http://www.nejug.org/registration.htm. We broke a record at the last meeting with 320 people. Will we do it again? The Nejug vs. MaineJug sailing regatta was a blast. Nejug won the first race (yeah!) by 10 seconds, but then we lost the second race by 1 minute 8 seconds, and lost the third race by on 12 lousy seconds! It was close enough that a rematch will be planned. If any of you have a sailboat and like a bit of friendly competition, let me know! You are more than welcome to race with us. You might want to check out a couple of interesting products. The First is the CodeHouse BeanBox Development Kit. You can get info by viewing http://www.codehouse.com. It seems like a slick product. The other is an EJB Scalability Testing tool called BeanTest. You can view more info at http://www.empirix.com. I am currently evaluating the BeanTest product. I will keep you posted on my findings. As always, the meetings, membership, pizza, and water are all free. I hope to see you at the September XML meeting!
