I hope to see you there! ---------------------------------------------- Dan Jacobs and J. Craig Cleveland Program Generation with Java and XML Abstract: New software applications have grown larger and more complex and need to integrate with larger numbers of other software systems. In order to keep up, it's necessary to generate key components of the applications. Program generators can increase programmer productivity and application reliability immeasurably, but they're not used nearly as much as they could be. This panel will address many reasons to generate programs and classes, the kinds of technologies available for doing so, and some of the main trade-offs and design patterns involved. We'll be looking at Java and XML, XSLT, JSP, and other related technologies. About the panelists: Dan Jacobs is the founder and president of ModelObjects Group, a consulting group with expertise in object-oriented software design and development using Java, XML, and related technologies. ModelObjects group has an suite of tools for XML translation and template-based code generation that have been used by several clients to generate HTML, XML, and Java classes. Dan has 20 years of experience as a software architect and object-oriented software developer. J. Craig Cleveland, PhD, is an independent consultant and the author of the recently published "Program Generators with XML and Java" from Prentice Hall. Craig is a former professor of Computer Science at the University of Connecticut, and has over 20 years of experience as a software engineer and consultant in industry.
