From: "Bob Young" Subject: MS Access and Visual Basic User Group Meeting - 31 Date: Friday, March 23, 2001 4:34 PM Monthly Meeting of the MS Access and Visual Basic User Group Tuesday, MARCH 27 at 5:30 at 22 Hampton St., Alliance Aircraft, Pease Tradeport, Portsmouth, NH. Tel Bob Young at 603-591-8049 PROGRAM 5:00 - Introduction to Access and Visual Basic for Applications - Using decision making tools to build a dynamic WHERE clause. The example will focus on using multiple combo boxes as input for boolean searches - eg Show me all the clients who live within 50 miles of Portsmouth and have attended at least one meeting in the past year. If your company has a national base and participates in trade shows, this type of search would be important to announce new products or services so that prospects/customers will plan to stop by your booth. The list goes on and on, for example: you need to retrieve reports from an archive, say everything written by Steve on the topic of waste water treatment in a certain region... 6:30 - Developers' Session - Microsoft has targeted ADO for future applications, and it is really a fine way to give your applications both blazing speed as well as using Access as the front end for SQL 7, or other ODBC backends. With ADO, Access 2000 becomes a powerful client for many applications. We will discuss how ADO uses connection strings to access even web-connected data stores. DIRECTIONS From the Spaulding Turnpike (Rte 4/16) exit on Goselin Road heading west into the Tradeport through the main gate. You will be on Pease Blvd. At the stop sign take a left on New Hampshire Ave. Take a right on Stratham St - the company Londavia will be on the corner - After the road bears to the left, take another quick right which will bring you to the Pan Am hanger where you bear to the left. Pass through the stop sign (a beige tower will be on the right), then a right on Hampton. 22 is the first building on the right with the sign "Color" out front. As always there will be ample time for attendees to bring up items of special interest as well as discuss any current issues or problems.
