Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 17:53:59 -0400 (EDT) From: David Fox Subject: [Boston-voice-users] meeting - Tuesday, July 10 Boston Voice Users will present its monthly meeting: "Alexander Technique and the Voice" Raewyn Haywood Boston Voice Users meeting Tuesday, July 10, 7:30 - 9:30 pm MIT, Room 2-143 (back to our usual room - directions below) The Alexander Technique was developed in the late 19th century by F.Mattias Alexander, an Australian actor who overcame hoarseness and respiratory problems through his discoveries about the use of the self. Alexander realized that the habitual overuse of tension throughout the body contributed greatly to the problems with his larynx. He went on to develop a teachable method of improving muscular coordination which allows everyday activities such as walking, sitting and speaking to be carried out with ease and freedom. During the evening we will be discussing the principles of the Alexander Technique, what is involved in learning it, and how the work can be beneficial to those suffering voice problems. For further information contact: Raewyn Haywood (617) 354-5950 alexanderteacher@yahoo.com www.alexanderworks.net About Raewyn: Raewyn Haywood (Teacher of the Alexander Technique.
