Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 10:47:47 -0400 From: richard seltzer Subject: Chat reminder: Thursday, July 26, testing more text chat platforms for distance ed and business This week we'll continue exploring realtime online interaction through free or almost-free text chat service providers. We'll all meet at Bob Zwick's http://www.cottagemicro.com/webshare and journey to several different services to test and evaluate their features and usefulness for distance education. Bob has simplified his entry page with a BIG "CLICK TO CHAT" button so whoever shows up will go to the right room. There is also a HumanClick button that late-comers can use to contact us when we're testing another chat site. First on the agenda is Bravenet Chat, then Chatway. For my reactions to/conclusions from last week's session, see my article "Text Chat Choices" at http://www.samizdat.com/textchat.html We meet on Thursdays from noon to 1 PM Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4). Transcripts of past chat sessions are available at http://www.samizdat.com/chat.html Please send email with your follow-on questions and comments, suggestions for other voice chat apps for us to experiment with and for other future topics, and requests to receive email reminders about upcoming sessions. Best wishes.
