Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 17:21:16 -0400 From: richard seltzer Subject: Chat reminder: Thursday, July 5 -- First in a series of tests leading up to Global Learn Day V Please join us for another experiment this Thursday, July 5. This week's session will be the first of a series of tests involving Global Learn Day V presenters and the tools to be used during the event, Sunday October 7, 2001. This week's presenter will be Colette Mazzucelli http://38.214.205.100/gld5/5005.html , who will be talking as much about the organization of her Panel and its content as we will about the tools we will use and how to make them work. We will be testing the capability of merging the capabilities of PalTalk (telephony) to the Franklin Telephone Room and archiving of same. We will also be testing some features in our text chat room, including a "pop up" about World Time. This test should be of interest and value to anyone interested in online discussion capabilities for distance education or business. As usual, we will meet from noon to 1 PM Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4). For a local time zone chart, with eqivalent times throughout the world, check http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=5&month=07&year=200 1&hour=16&min=0&sec=0&p1=0 If you wish to attend, first please go to http://www.samizdat.com/paltalk There you'll see how to get set up to use PalTalk and how to reach our PalTalk voice chat room. Those who are already familiar with PalTalk may also wish to go directly to the Franklin Text Chat Room at http://www.bfranklin.edu/textchat where the group will primarily meet for TEXT chatting. (although some text chat will also take place in the PalTalk text chat room.) Or join us in the PalTalk room at Paltalk->Miscellaneous->Business on the Web. The Franklin Telephone Room will be open from the half hour (mark) to ten minutes before the hour. The phone number to the Franklin Telephone Room for this session is 305-503-1852, extension 107. Transcripts of past chat sessions are available at http://www.samizdat.com/chat.html Please send email with your follow-on questions and comments, suggestions for other voice chat apps for us to experiment with and for other future topics, and requests to receive email reminders about upcoming sessions. Best wishes.
