Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 22:30:13 -0000 From: Mike Long Subject: SWEQSIG: Beyond MS Project: Designing an Enterprise PM Framework *** NOTE - Not a Tuesday (this month only) *** *** NOTE - SIG meetings now run 6:30pm-8pm (ongoing) *** Topic: Beyond MS Project: Designing an Enterprise PM Framework When: Wednesday 2/21/2001, 6:30-8pm (** NOTE - Not a Tuesday!**) Presenter: Steve MacIsaac Where: St. Anselms College in Manchester NH, Cushing Hall (see directions at the bottom of this email) ABSTRACT: Project management systems were first developed in the 1960's and until five years ago hadn't changed very much. Now with the advent of Program Management systems many people are forecasting that multi project, portfolio, performance management systems will replace accounting systems as the enterprise backbone in the not too distance future. In addition PM systems have a profusion of communications, collaboration and problems solving functions never envisioned just a few years ago. BIO: Steve MacIsaac the President of the Maine PMI Chapter, a Professor teaching project Management at several local Universities, a PM consultant and the designer one of the first enterprise PM systems will take us far beyond the normal limits set for PM systems by MS Project. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's our very full lineup through April, 2001: Topic: Web Load Test Tool Bakeoff When: Tuesday 3/27/2001, 6:30-8pm Presenter: Thomas J. Business pressures have mandated the QA organization to test more software, in more complex environments, in abbreviated (and often unrealistic) time frames, while maintaining high quality. Rapid Software Quality Assurance is a modified testing methodology containing best practices for optimizing web testing. BIO: Eric Patel is QA & Test Manager at Nokia where he leads a team that tests digital communications solutions for the home. He has 10 years of experience in software testing, test management, and software quality assurance. Eric earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont. He gave his premiere talk at the Software Quality Group of New England's November 2000 meeting and will also be presenting at BOSCON, NESQAF and STAR East this year. Eric is also a reviewer for Software Quality Professional, an ASQ Certified Quality Manager and a Certified Software Quality Engineer. **** PLEASE add the above to your calendars. In the body of the message put subscribe sweqsig or unsubscribe sweqsig --- The meeting will take place at St. Anselm's in Manchester NH, Cushing Student Center - The following links would be helpful in finding this: (Building #19) **** Alternate (textual) directions: >From the South/Nashua: Take Everett Turnpike North past exit 12. Take the exit to Rte 101 West (toward Bedford) Go through traffic lights onto Rte. 114 (toward Goffstown) After you go through the traffic lights at the 101 & 114 intersection head towards the 2nd set of lights from this intersection. At 1st stoplight you will see a Bedford Miniature Golf center on your right. Go through this set of lights and go to the next set of lights. At the 2nd stoplight take a right. You will see two entrances to St. Anselms on your right (approximately a mile). Take the first entrance (coming from 114) take a left immediately after the first building on your left (the library). The next building after the library is Poisson Hall. As you get past Poisson Hall take a right. Immediately after that right they allow "on street parking". If you find a parking spot of that road you are very near Cushing. Cushing is the first building on the right on that road. However the road turns back left before you get to Cushing but it will be on your right as you turn toward the left. If there is no available space on that street and you continue down to a stop sign then you have exhausted the FEW "on street parking" spots. At the stop sign take a sharp right and move down toward the Dana Center (where we met in November). Cushing will now be the 3rd building on your right after the sharp turn. The road curves down a small hill toward a large parking lot. Park there and walk back up to Cushing. This parking lot we parked in for the November meeting.
