 There will be no chat session today, Thursday, Feb. 8. We'll resume our
weekly chats next Thursday, Feb. 15. Our topic will be "What free stuff
is left and why?" We want to share experiences and insights about free
products and services available over the Internet. Many companies used to
offer free stuff and services to quickly build a large audience, with the
idea of either selling advertising or selling the business based on the
number of registered users. With the dot-com stock market crash, lots of
free offers and the companies that depended on them have disappeared over
the last year. What's still available? What's useful? What isn't worth
the price? And what's the future of the Internet business model of
giveaways?

 Sorry I've had to skip a few weeks. I was finishing writing a book for
MightyWords ("Take Charge of Your Web Site: three lessons for business
people"). Now I'm writing another book, this one for Wiley -- "Web
Business Bootcamp." I'll be organizing the chats for the next couple
months around the chapters that I am writing. And I have also set up

and share your comments even if you can't make it to the live chat.
