Since we know from experience that people do not show up for a meeting on
Dec. 26, we are not holding FoxPro User Group meeting this month. However,
I wanted to alert you to VB Learn User Group special meeting (and its,

Topic: What is XML?

We are pleased to have Jim Wilson, a speaker at VBITS and other
conferences, present for us at our December and January meetings.

There's a lot more to XML then a bunch of angle-brackets. It's an entire
suite of technologies including XSL, XPath, XML Schema and the emerging
technologies of SOAP & Web Services. In this session, we'll review the
fundamentals of XML document structure, examine system design issues and
identify where each of the XML technologies fit in an overall solution.

Building on our discussion from December, we will examine the issues of XML
programming in both VB and VB.NET. We will start by working with the DOM
and SAX API's in VB 6, with a focus on understanding the situations where
each is best suited. We will then look at the new XML programming model
exposed by VB.NET.
