This meeting really is a must-attend. Two Topics: 1) Leading-edge internet connectivity options 2) Anti-hacker security presentation now available ====================================================================== #1 Leading edge technologies to extend connectivity to and from your corporate enterprise. Whether currently planned or not, your corporate enterprise network architecture will be extending beyond your corporate walls. This is only underscored by the new Microsoft.NET initiative. With certain marketing and technology variations, the traditional connectivity carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, UUNet, Genuity, and Qwest all follow pretty much the same network architecture. Although these presenting organizations may deliver internet connectivity, none of them can be called ISPs. The providers at the next meeting all provide truly unique and very much non-traditional corporate connectivity services at the leading edge. Presenters will be from: NEESCom yIPes InterNAP (more details on the web site) Each organization will have a 20-minute technology presentation followed by a lively group Q&A. This meeting will cover the following in depth: * How do the major internet backbone providers cut deals behind the scenes? This topic alone is worth the drive. * How is internet "transit" different from "peering"? * What is BGP4 and multi-homing all about? * How is OC-12 different from gigabit ethernet? * How can I avoid an onerous local loop charge? * What is the best deal for me now an in the future? At the very least, you will gain considerable insider information on what really makes the internet work. ====================================================================== #2 NT/2000 SECURITY PRESENTATION NOW AVAILABLE At the recent Microsoft TechNet Annual Symposium, Kevin Sullivan presented an updated version of our May User Group meeting on the Windows NT/2000 anti-hacker security.
